Dog Gone By: Diane Moat - Review

My Review

First things first, if you love animals this story may be just what you want to read. Granted, some details (about the animal’s injuries/deaths) may be too much for some readers. For those who can handle detailed, graphic screens, you will do just fine (there is not too many of them to even think about using that as an excuse not to read this book). This story was written with an adult audience in mind.

Alright, let’s get down to business…… Our main character Sam is a nurse who has her world turned upside down shortly after her parent’s death and the horrific finding of a dead dog (who was tortured and murdered) on the side of the road, where her and her fiancĂ©e were camping at the time.

She doesn’t just help with victimized animals; she donates and even plays a new age version of Robin Hood for these helpless animals.  Using the money she has from her parent’s deaths as well as the money from her new hobby of stealing from the animal abuser….Sam tries to help provide better living arrangements for shelter animals. Her poor fiancĂ©, Nathan, doesn’t know what to think or even how to feel when Sam breaks down and drifts in and out of wanting him in her life. I have to admit, I thought Sam and Michael made such a cute couple, you know, when they had to meet in secret and everything, lol.  It’s epic how WOW (World of Warcraft) is brought into the story as well. A Nurse who not only saves people and animals, but also knows how to have some gaming fun as well, Love it.

I don’t want to give away anything about this story. So I will just leave it like this. Diana Moat has written a very detailed story about a New Age Robin Hood, who so happens to be a woman as well. Love it. The story line is wonderful, but I have to admit, some details drag it out a little. That’s ok, some readers love extra details. Plus, the story line is what really holds a reader and this story line is a wonderful one. Especially when you meet all of Sam’s friends with secrets, each and every character plays a part in this wonderful book. The last few chapters of the book will defiantly blow your mind away. The ending, oh boy that ending, it will defiantly lighting up your heart. That is all I will say.

Here are a few Author questions. I hope they teach you  something new and amazing about this wonderful Author.

1. What inspired you to become an Author?
I was about to turn 50 and wanted to shake things up a bit, but I wasn't about to climb Mt. Everest or run a marathon. I love to read so writing seemed like a natural next step.
2. How long have you been writing?
Two years.

3. What do you love about writing?
Just like reading, it transports me somewhere else for a period of time.

4. Your own opinion. What is the most important quality to have as an Author?
Love of the subject matter. If you don't love your story, no one else will either!

5. Have you ever ended up with a dream or nightmare from writing one of your books? If yes, which one?
Yikes-No!

6. Do you have a favorite Author (other then yourself)? LOL. Who is it and why are they your favorite?
J. D. Robb. Her writings and characters are so vivid, I feel as if I am there.

7. What can you tell us about yourself that your fans do not already know?
I am a terrible cook :)

8. What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you as an Author?
Two days after I published my first book, I found a typo in the first paragraph. I almost quite writing, right then!

9. Can fans ask you anything about your books
?

Absolutely! They can email me through my Author page DianeMoatAuthor.com

10. What scares you the most at being an Author?

Making a factual mistake which would destroy my credibility.

Here are some questions I asked our Author about her books......

1. Have you made any character based on someone you know in real life? If so, why?
In my middle-grade series (The Supernatural Pet Sitter) the main character, Pepper, is based on my childhood-especially our fear of water.

2. What is the best reason to read your books?
They will hopefully take you some place exciting for a time.

3. Do your books have any characters from a dream you have had? If so which character?
Not so far.

4. Do you ever read your own books for fun? If yes, which one is your favorite to reread?
The Supernatural Pet Sitter series, because the endings are always happy.

5.If you could live in one of your books, would you?
Yes, Guardian of the Way, because there are so many magical doors it would never get boring.

6. Which one of your characters reminds you of yourself?
Samantha, in Dog Gone, because of her love for animals.

7. Do you have a favorite character?
Franco, the retired mobster in Dog Gone. I'm pretty sure he has quite a few skeletons in his closet.

8. Do any of your characters frighten you? Who and why?
Also Franco, because of those same skeletons in his closet.

9. What's your favorite part about creating a new book and characters?
The possibilities. I never know how it's going to end until it is almost finished.

10. What was the best comment you have ever gotten on one of your books?
"I had a hard time putting this book down."

Here is five of her books for you to explore......

Wherever a helpless animal whimpers in the dark--whenever the system fails to protect an animal--she’ll be there, and she isn’t giving up anytime soon. You’ve been warned. When Sam Holden receives a tip about a brutal dog fighting ring, she embarks on some of her most dangerous acts of vigilantism yet. The monster known as The Puppeteer circles Sam’s world as she unknowingly circles his. As they chase each other, will Sam put those she loves most in harm’s way in order to bust up the ring? With time running out and animals in need, the dangerous life she’s created begins to eclipse any other life she could ever lead.

A horribly murdered dog. A woman at a crossroads in her life.

Samantha Holden finds the tortured body of a dog, launching her on a battle against animal abuse. The line between right and wrong quickly blurs, leading her down the path of bringing these abusers to justice. A path which calls for extraordinary - and sometimes illegal - measures.
A modern day animal-avenger version of Robin Hood, Sam turns to robbery to fund her illegal projects. A mob family retiree, a housebound social media whiz, and a gorgeous Irishman who fences the things she steals, all are linked together in the search for the man who started it all.
Can Sam balance this escalating crusade while keeping it all secret from her on-again, off-again boyfriend, who could cause it all to explode?
If she finds the man she hunts, will either of them survive?
Reviewers have said of Dog Gone: “Action packed and suspenseful, hard to put this book down!” “Sam Holden is a true Avenger!”

Every animal can talk to you. You just have to know how to listen.

Pepper Neely is better at this than most, especially because she is in charge of pet sitting all the familiars in her neighborhood. A familiar is a pet magically linked to a witch or warlock. As a gnome, Pepper is no stranger to spells and sorcery. She also knows that, despite their special name, familiars aren't all that different from regular animals. They get anxious when separated from their people, so Pepper uses her special gnome powers to calm them down. She watches Cranky the high-strung ferret, Frank the laid-back parrot, King Arthur the elderly tortoise, and many others.

Then, something terrible begins happening to the familiars. Someone is stealing their magic! It not only prevents Pepper from communicating with them but breaks their magical connection with their people. When King Arthur's magic is stolen, his owner's powers stop working too. Pepper can sense that the tortoise is very scared.

In order to protect the animal's magic, Pepper decides to track down the culprit. With the help of her best friend, Luna, and her brother, Jax, Pepper fights to protect all of the special pets.

Even in a world of magic . . . the healer must trust in love to be healed.

Behind his wolfish grin, Alex Spiros’s cautious and dangerous movements mark him as a predator . . . and the killer for his pack. Something about Madison arouses the protector in him, and it’s not just because she is a healer. He worries about her, and wants her to feel safe after being forced to be the weresnakes’ healer. Wanting to protect her and his pack, Alex declares war against the weresnakes.
Time is running out for Madison and the pack unless Alex can bring the war to a victorious end. As the war rages, Madison must decide if she’s ready to bond with pack, and surrender to the even rarer bond with Alex, even if it could all be lost in the upcoming battle.

It’s been two centuries since someone murdered the last Guardian of the Way, closing off this world from the many realms of magic and fae.

Cassiopeia “Cass” Wilson is an eighteen-year-old living on her own for the first time. The only magic she’s interested in is the kind that will help her pay the bills on time. Little does she know that a trip to the hospital after a fainting spell will change her life forever.

Cass soon learns she may be fae, and everything points to her being the next Guardian of the Way. There’s just one problem: whoever—or whatever—killed the last Guardian wants Cass dead too.

Cass quickly runs into problems, and an attack by djinn is just the first. But Cass joins forces with a wrath daemon, were-creatures, and fae on a quest to reach the Lighthouse—the site of the Way.

Cass soon learns about wizards desperate to keep the Way closed to serve their dark purposes, and she comes to a crossroads: will she take the test to become the new Guardian and leave her normal life behind? Or will the Way remain closed to all who need it?

Fated...The soul seekers By: Alyson Noel

Here it goes. I give this book 3 stars. Why?
Well, let's see there is a few things in this story that just bored me too much
But, it is not a bad book. I just kept getting annoyed with different parts. Ok, one example, I for one did not understand much of anything with what was going on in the story.
Her mother confused me to death. I kept wondering if she was just evil or if she just wasn't good mom material at first.....
Secondly... Why? Why did she treat the man of her dreams like crap instead of saying more to him. I understand he is good, yet his twin is pure evil.....ugh.
I just have an active imagination and all of the details about unimportant stuff was annoying me. Yet, I still love the idea of the story and would recommend it to people who work enjoy it.
